Our parent company Compusafe was approached by a large London Teaching Hospital to help them achieve their vision of being able to provide free access to Internet and Intranet services to patients and staff in a friendly relaxing café environment.

The main driver for this initiative came from government plans to modernise hospital information services as part of an overarching e-government strategy under the remit of the e-envoy.

They had looked long and hard for a company who could design and deliver a solution to meet their needs.

The original specification include a number of features including:

  • Units that could house Web enabled personal computers in a secure environment to prevent damage and theft to the hardware driving the system.
  • They also required the units to fit in with the surrounding décor and not to look industrial
  • They had to be accessible by wheel chair users.
  • They had to be priced realistically to fit in with limited budgets
  • Relatively maintenance free

That was over 18 months ago,

The Hospital has now been running their cybercafés units for over a year with great success. This has generated interest from the Government and press leading to both the hospital and our company being flooded with request for information on how to set up their own cybercafé solutions. A number of other hospitals have also now put in there own units.

We have now developed a whole range of services including kiosk design, installation, software and training for hospitals, clinics, schools, colleges, pubs, bars, shops, clubs, workplaces public spaces or anywhere you think they would be useful with the aim of getting your cybercafé installation up and running as quickly and efficiently as possible.
